PRINTED ELECTRIC
Aircraft Electrical System Customization Tool
The purpose of creating a digital interface for the printed electrical system in the Aircrafts was to allow customers to digitally customize the internal signages and other electrical systems of an aircraft according to their specific requirements by viewing the actual layout of the aircraft and designing the electrical systems (signage, temp control, lighting) for maximum effectiveness.

User and User Need
Aircraft Design Engineer | Aircraft Configuration and Maintenance team | Operations Leader
The business need was to deploy and efficient system that allowed them to configure, preview, save and share an optimized view of the printed electric product being used for the aircraft interior
Quick and seamless experience to address the time constraints and automate the process of electrical display systems anytime and anywhere
through digital means
Requirement of a superior alternative to traditional wiring systems that would result in efficient display models, lighter aircraft loads and higher fuel savings
Provide variable data for load analysis and other purposes to different teams while using printed electric in lieu of traditional wiring systems

The initial or the starting steps were several brainstorming workshop with the team to uncover pain points felt by individuals. These sessions consequently resulted in outcome of several challenges that we were going to face during the tool development and several opportunities that will come our way and make this product one of a kind among many pre-existing AIRBUS tools.
The Challenge & the process
Since the technology was new, there was not set goals for the products, in this case the Printed Electric tool so clear goals in positioning and engaging the customer were figured out and set.
SCENARIO & USE CASES
A quick scenario mapping was done for various priority use cases and error cases witht he mapped user profile and their expected journey in the tool
This project was a critical and strategic initiative with an approaching deadline that was transitioned to the Protospace due to non-delivery by a different team.
This resulted in extremely tight delivery schedules, hence we opted for a speed UX process that started with mind-mapping sessions involving product briefing sessions, its differentiating features aligned to current and future customer requirements, so that it could be highlighted.
This further moved to mapping the empathy map of the user and charting the user persona, basis which user scenario mapping was done and user flow was structured. With the support of user flow and other mapped data, the wireframes/low fidelity mockups were made which served as the base for the final screens.
